REP. BECERRA JOINS HOUSE MEMBERS IN PROTEST OF VOTE AGAINST ATTORNEY GENERAL ERIC HOLDER PDF Print

WASHINGTON, DC—Today, in protest against a vote to hold the United States Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress, Representative Xavier Becerra (CA-31), Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, joined his colleagues in a “walk out” and released the following statement:

“Long ago this stopped being oversight and is now nothing more than pure political overreach. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (ATF) “Fast & Furious” gun-walking operation was a serious mistake and the death of agent Brian Terry demands a serious investigation into the operation. But I will not legitimize a political witch hunt totally unrelated to the need to uncover the facts behind the failed ATF operation. Today, I stand with my colleagues in protest of this partisan sham.”
