REP. BECERRA: ONE HUNDRED DAYS OF… PDF Print

WASHINGTON, DC—Today marks the hundredth day of this Republican-led session of the House of Representatives. To mark the occasion, Representative Xavier Becerra (CA-31), Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement:

"In one hundred days what has been the biggest accomplishment of the Republican-led House of Representatives?

Not job creation—in fact, there hasn't been a single bill, hearing or action taken to promote job creation in America. Just a spending bill that we know would destroy hundreds of thousands of jobs according to independent economists.

Not deficit reduction—in fact, their long-term budget proposal increases the deficit by further cutting taxes for millionaires and billionaires while placing the burden of rising health care costs on the backs of seniors.

Their biggest accomplishment in the first one hundred days: walking our government to the cliff of a shutdown for the sake of spending cuts that do nothing to fix our long term deficit problem, but do a lot of harm to America's working families."
