BECERRA MEETS WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA, PRAISES IMMIGRATION REFORM EFFORTS

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today Representative Xavier Becerra (CA-31), Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus and senior member of the Ways and Means Committee, met with President Barack Obama and fellow leaders in Congress to discuss comprehensive immigration reform. After the meeting, Rep. Becerra released the following statement:

“President Obama understands the importance of this issue and has put the weight of the White House behind our efforts to pass comprehensive immigration reform. I believe the American public has the will to support a comprehensive reform of our immigration laws.  They are tired of the broken immigration system and want to see something done. The status quo is not an option, and deporting 12 million undocumented immigrants is not a realistic solution.  We will continue working with the President and in a bipartisan manner to finally come forth with a bipartisan solution.”
