WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today Representative Xavier Becerra (CA-31), Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement in response to the Department of Labor’s report that the economy lost 524,000 jobs in December, capping a year that saw 2.6 million jobs disappear from the economy—the largest annual loss since 1945.
“Behind every single one of these lost jobs is a family that is suffering. Every day that we delay the implementation of a comprehensive economic recovery package for Main Street is another day of struggle for American families who have lost a source of income. As we put together the pieces of a stimulus package that spends wisely and appropriately we must work with the sense of urgency that America’s working families demand.”
