WASHINGTON, D.C. – Late last night, the House Budget Committee voted to favorably report a fiscally responsible 2009 budget to the House. Representative Xavier Becerra (CA-31), Assistant to the Speaker of the House, the only congressional member from Southern California on the Ways and Means Committee and a member of the Budget Committee, voted for the resolution.
“This budget is the type of quality product the American people elected us to produce,” Rep. Becerra said shortly after voting for the budget. “It addresses the pressing economic challenges facing this nation in a fiscally responsible way. We rejected the president’s proposed cuts to essential programs, while making critical investments in the American economy. I salute the leadership of Chairman Spratt and every member of the Committee for their tireless work on this budget resolution.”
