National Committee To Preserve Social Security And Medicare Gives Rep. Becerra A Score Of 100%

Perfect Score Speaks To The Ways And Means Member's Commitment To Save Social Security

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Representative Xavier Becerra (CA - 30), the only congressional member from Southern California who is on the House Ways and Means Committee, earned a perfect score of 100 percent on the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare's 107th Congressional Scorecard.

"I have made Social Security and Medicare preservation a hallmark of my tenure in Congress," Rep. Becerra, a member of the Subcommittee on Social Security, said. "Social Security is arguably the single greatest program that this government has ever created, and I will continue to work to ensure that it is neither jeopardized nor privatized."

The entire scorecard can be found at www.ncpssm.org.

In addition to the NCPSSM score, the American Association of University Women gave Rep. Becerra a 100 percent voting rating for the 107th Congress on September 5, 2002. The votes that the AAUW used to score congressional members centered on issues including school vouchers, international family planning, welfare reauthorization, tax cuts and managed care reform.

Earlier this year, the League of Conservation Voters gave Rep. Becerra a score of 93 percent on its 107th Congress, Second Session, National Environmental Scorecard.
